Oakville residents can receive a 50% rebate on contributions of $100 or more under the Town’s contribution rebate program. Signs, flyers, and the meet-and-greet hall are paid for by neighbours; choose the method that works best for you.
Contribution rules
- Individuals living in Ontario may contribute up to $1,200 per candidate, with a $5,000 total limit for candidates running for the same council.
- Corporations and trade unions cannot contribute to municipal candidates.
- A contribution must be your own money. Contributions over $25 cannot be made in cash.
- The campaign issues a receipt for every contribution. Contributions to municipal candidates are not tax-deductible.
- Contributions can only be accepted during the campaign period, which ends December 31, 2026 (extended to no later than June 30, 2027 only if the campaign has a deficit and files the required notice).
- Contributions over $100 are publicly disclosed with the contributor’s name, address, and amount.
- Oakville’s rebate requires candidate enrolment and donor eligibility. Confirm campaign participation before relying on a rebate.
